Longboat Key Beach AccessStarting at the north end: North Shore Road, Coral Avenue, Palmetto and Seabreeze, Broadway, Beachwalk, Gulfside Road, Atlas Street, Hilton, Longview Drive, Mayfield Street, Westfield Street, Triton Street, Neptune Street Longboat Key BeachesFree limited parking at Longview Drive, Westfield Street, Mayfield Street and Neptune Avenue. The public access points to the beach can be found by looking for the blue and white Beach Access signs labeled Neptune Avenue Beach or Mayfield Street Beach. Both are right on the Gulf but are less known, and therefore, a bit secluded. The beaches here are also quite wide and the sand is a bit softer than at some other beaches.
Directions to Longboat KeyFrom Sarasota/Bradenton airport, go south on Tamiami Trail (US 41) to John & Mable Ringling Causeway. Turn right (west), go over drawbridge, to St. Armands Circle turn right on North Blvd. of Presidents. Continue on North Blvd. of Presidents over another drawbridge to Longboat Key. From I-75, Take exit #39, go west on Fruitville Rd., turn left (south) on Tamiami Trail (US 41). Go to next traffic light, turn right on John & Mable Ringling Causeway. Turn right (west), go over drawbridge, to St. Armands Circle turn right on North Blvd. of Presidents. Continue on North Blvd. of Presidents over another drawbridge to Longboat Key. Beer Can Island (aka Greer Island)This is a secluded peninsula at the northern tip of Longboat Key. Its 2,000 feet of primitive sandy beach are excellent for shelling. It is best to come by boat or walk to the island at low tide. Limited parking, public transportation drop off/pick up.
